“For about two years, I’ve had problems with skin irritations in my inner elbow area on both arms, behind the knees of both legs, on my lower legs and inside on top of my ankles as well as inside my armpits. The problem occurred when the weather became hot (late spring and summer into early fall), and was terribly annoying because these areas itched a lot and then left some dark scarring. Last summer, the problem spread to my neck area!

Until I saw Dr. Weaver, I was trying to alleviate the condition with Tinactin and then alcohol, but the alcohol blistered the skin on my neck!

I decided finally to call and schedule an appointment with the doctor (who has been treating my son for severe acne-cyst formation, etc for over a year). Dr. Weaver diagnosed my condition as a form of eczema and prescribed an ointment and gave samples of a pill.

As soon as I started using this ointment, the problem improved tremendously! I am very satisfied with the results I have seen and by the way, haven’t even needed the pills.

Thank you Dr. Weaver!!!”

Surgical Dermatology

What is surgical dermatology?

The word surgery may bring to mind major, invasive procedures performed in a hospital operating room under general anesthesia. Actually, surgery is defined as procedures involving suturing, abrading, cutting, or otherwise physically altering body organs or tissues – it can be very, very minor.

Dermatological surgery usually involves a very small area, and (because we are dealing with the skin) incisions are typically very shallow. Dr. Seymour Weaver and his team are known for their exceptional skills in providing surgical treatments that are both comfortable and effective, with minimal downtime.

Why have surgical dermatology procedures?

Dermatological surgery may be performed for cosmetic or medical reasons. Many, but not all, skin conditions can be corrected with non-invasive options such as topical treatment, oral medication, or light therapy. In certain cases, usually involving the removal of skin growths or repairing damage, surgery is needed.

Surgical dermatology and other treatments

Often, a minor surgical procedure will be needed along with other treatments to achieve the desired results. For example, microdermabrasion or a chemical peel may be used to even out skin tone and improve texture, and skin tags could be removed with a simple surgical procedure.

Surgical dermatology costs

The cost of surgical dermatology will vary depending on the condition being treated and the technique used. We provide price quotes in advance of all procedures so that you can make an informed decision.

We use various surgical techniques to address the unique needs of each individual. He always takes great care to ensure the patient is comfortable throughout treatment. While the process varies depending on the technique, it typically begins with local anesthetic to numb the area. The next step is the actual surgery (such as grafting an area or removing a growth), and the final step is closing the wound if needed.

Conditions treated with surgical dermatology

A few of the many dermatological conditions that can be treated with surgical procedures include:

  • Cysts – Hard lumps beneath the skin surface.
  • Keloids – Raised scars that tend to continue growing until removed.
  • Split Earlobes – Typically caused by an earring pulling out.
  • Moles – Usually small-flat or raised-dark or flesh colored growths.
  • Skin Cancer – Abnormal growths or moles that bleed or get irritated.
  • Warts – Hard, raised lesions caused by a virus.
  • Skin Tags – A small piece of soft, hanging skin.
